Bid Day Best Day!

Image
Bid Day. Best Day! Let's talk Xi... Bid day is a day you'll never forget! This is the day you've been waiting all week to get to! At Jacksonville State, Bid Day is the Sunday after recruitment starts. You have made it from philanthropy day to sisterhood and values to preference, so now it is time to see where you will run home to! You're recruitment counselors will go through what to wear that morning before you run home. Usually girls will wear a sports bra or tank top (this is so you can change into your bid day shirt that your new sisters have sent to you!) and denim or running shorts. Whatever you are comfortable wearing. Also make sure you wear some good shoes to run in! Converse or Chacos are always a good way to go, but if you can run in those cute sandals then rock it, sis! Once you get there you'll sit down and wait for that envelope to come to you. Your recruitment counselor will more than likely give it to you about 20 minutes...

Realizing Your Potential

Image
Helping women realize their potential since 1893... Let's talk Xi! Something Alpha Xi Delta instills in her members is to realize their potential. Our chapters are always striving to help their members do exactly this! How do we realize our potential? Each of our members is involved in another organization outside of Alpha Xi Delta. Remember our first blog post where we talked about what our sisters do around campus? That's where this comes into play again! Sisters are JSU Southerners, Ballerinas, Ambassadors, and GO! Leaders. Some go to EngageJSU and The Watering Hole. We have sisters that serve on the Student Government Senate! You can see a sister involved on campus almost everywhere you look!  Within our chapters, we have SO many leadership opportunities! You can be a Vice President under the chapter president. You can be a Director under a Vice President. You can be a Chair under a Director. There are so many chances to be involved in our chapter and mak...

Xi Lady: Katie Keith!

Image
Let's talk Xi... with Katie Keith! Xi Lady Spotlight Katie Keith is our first Xi Lady Spotlight with our blog! Katie is our Membership Vice President, so she plays a vital role in the recruitment process. We asked Katie a few questions about recruitment: what is her role, her favorite part, what women going through can expect, and some advice to those women going through. Let see what Katie had to share!  1. What do you do as Membership Vice President? As MVP, I prepare the chapter for the week of recruitment! I coordinate the room decoration and flow, outfits, bid day theme and so much more! 2. What's your favorite part of recruitment? My favorite part about recruitment is Sisterhood and Values Day. I love getting to share what Alpha Xi is all about and everything that our chapter has to offer. This is a wonderful representation of what anyone can expect to experience as part of our chapter.  3. What are you most looking forward to this recruitmen...

Recruitment Rundown

Image
Excited about recruitment? But what even happens? Lets talk Xi... From learning about philanthropies to running home on bid day, recruitment week is plenty eventful to say the least! I know when I went through recruitment, I had no idea what to expect, what to wear, or what was going on! This post is here to help you figure out what you're getting into during this wonderful week of Greek women.  Philanthropy Day Remember a few blogs ago when we talked about what philanthropy was? This is when that comes in handy! This is the day where every sorority tells you about their amazing philanthropy! Get to know their philanthropy because once you find your home, it will become part of your college experience. Since this is the first full day of recruitment, this is your chance to get to know these women and form connections with them, too! Remember to be yourself always to make genuine connections. Sisterhood and Values Day This is a day where you have to...

A Sisterhood So True

Image
"A sisterhood so true. A place for everybody." What do you want in a sisterhood? Lets talk Xi... Every sorority has a unique sisterhood! And sisterhood is different to every sister. Throughout the summer we will be spotlighting sisters so they can share what sisterhood means to them! For now we will stick to sisterhood fun that we have in our chapter! Throughout the year we have little events to hangout together because sometimes school gets to be a lot and we need some sister time to de-stress.  Pajamas and pancakes was a personal favorite of mine. We had a great time eating pancakes and fruit in our pajamas! We ended the night by watching a movie and of course we had to have a photo op! We learned some killer self defense moves at chapter one night! There are always fun mixers to go to throughout the school year, too. A mixer is when our sorority pairs with a fraternity on campus where we dress up according to theme and play some fun games! It...

Philanthropic Women

Image
Philanthropy? What is that? I'm glad you asked! Let's talk Xi... The way I view philanthropy is giving back to an organization to better the lives of others. (Websters Dictionary goes into a different wordy definition.) Every sorority has a philanthropy that they raise money and awareness for! Alpha Xi Delta's philanthropy is Autism Speaks, and boy do we have a lot to talk about! We are working to promote understanding and acceptance of autism and raise funds by holding AmaXIng Challenges each year. Our chapter hosts a color run during the fall semester every year. This year we will be having a GLOW RUN!!!  Check out last year's run  https://www.facebook.com/288792447847229/videos/2147347105583455/?t=1 We also host another event called Taco Xi where we sell tacos and shirts on the square in Jacksonville. Its a community event for people to come hang out and listen to live music while enjoying tacos from a local restaurant.  Furry friends a...

Let's Talk Xi!

The sisterhood of women that lives within our hearts.  The loyalty and friendships of which we are a part. Alpha Xi Delta holds a special place in all our sisters hearts, and we would like to share it with you! Here on our blog we will give you an inside look on our chapter here at Jacksonville State University. This blog is also here to tell you about the recruitment process on our campus! What is it? When is it? What should I wear? Don't worry, we will get to all of that later. In 1968, Alpha Xi Delta was founded on campus as the first Panhellenic organization. Since our founding, the sisters of the Epsilon Pi chapter have come a long way in realizing their potential.  Our sister Darby has been crowned as Miss JSU 2019. We have JSU Ballerinas in our sisterhood! We have future nurses... And we have Disney cast members! Needless to say, Epsilon Pi has a lot to talk about, and this is just a fraction of it! We want to help you fin...
